Adatara Ginjo from Okunomatsu was named as Japan best sake in 2018. The sake won the prize at the most prestigious sake blind tasting in the world, the International Wine Challenge, where no less than 1639 top sake were submitted. Lots of fruit such as melon, pear and lychee in the aroma and on the pallet with subtle, beautiful acidity that accentuates the fine flavours nicely. Okunomatsu Sparkling Junmai Daiginjo is brewed in Fukushima by one of the most famous brewery from this region. It is one of the few sparkling Junmai Daiginjo sakes, characterized by its exceptional refinement and elegant bubbles, resulting from a second fermentation in the bottle. With a rice polishing ratio of 50%, this sake offers a floral and elegant taste. Turn the bottle upside down for 1 minute so the left over sediment can distribute evenly. Serve this sake cold in a flute.

Saku-Saku Karakuchi Okunomatsu is an easy-to-drink Honjozo with aromas of exotic fruit, roasted grain and rice flour on the nose. On the palate, the umami character stands out, complemented by refined dry notes that also linger in the finish. Karakuchi means “dry” in Japanese and is often used to describe sake with a distinctly dry flavour profile. This sake pairs especially well with spicy Asian dishes, offering a pleasant counterbalance. It can be enjoyed both chilled and gently warmed.
Okunomatsu Dry Aged Ginjo is the opposite of regular aged sake. Normally, matured sake is sweet with nice acids to ensure balance and the residual sugars and acids act as natural preservatives so that the sake can age in a beautiful way. This limited edition sake that is at least 5 years old has few residual sugars and less acids, on the other hand the so-called layers when you taste it. Complex rich with a nice long finish. Best served chilled in a sake or wine glass.
